- Comment: I love the pen don't get me wrong but have had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS with the Livescribe desktop (the software that comes with the pen for the computer). Half the time it doesn't realize the pen is connected and sometimes even when it does it doesn't load the documents. Other times I cannot even login to the livescribe desktop at all. Being unable to use the livescribe desktop makes the pen vitually useless as this is where you download the files to from the pen.

- Comment: I bought this pen after seeing a classmate use it. It's super-geeky, of course, but it's a great device. I think it's one of those thing you have to see to understand.
It works surprisingly flawlessly. Record, write, sync, and then click to play back device.

- Comment: I just dont understand this company. I have owned several of these pens and is ssems that each time they come out with a new software update the break the pen. The two pens I currently own will not sync with the software.
They have been nothing but a constant headache.

- Comment: Thre Livescribe 4 GB Pulse Smartpen is a great concept that worked very nicely ... for a little while.
An update to the Livescribe Desktop (the software that gives you the ability to view your handwritten notes on your computer accompanied by the sounds files associated with it) was pushed that completely incapitated the ability of the pen to sync with the computer. I am now unable to look at any of my old notebooks, nor can I sync anything that I create. The error message suggests contacting customer service. Customer service took 4 days to respond -- with instructions that do not work. Asking for further guidance resulted in another 4-day wait to receive the very same set of instructions as before (i.e. the ones that I told them did not work). I have tried calling the phone number for customer service but never connect with an actual human being. I have reinstalled the software, tried some registry hacks, and several other things to no avail. I give up (and this is something I generally do not do, I hate for a tool to defeat me). Toss the hunk of junk in a drawer and go back to typing notes. Save your money, while it's cool for a few months, it's just not worth the frustration.
